Elgin Sheriff Court heard that, on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Mackenzie was pulled over by police while travelling on the A941 between Elgin and Lossiemouth.

Procurator Fiscal Victoria Silver said: "Police noted that he was under the influence of drugs. He was sweating and his eyes were glazed over.

"When asked, Mackenzie stated that he had taken cocaine two days earlier."

Defence Solicitor Matthew O'Neill stated that Mackenzie has accepted that what he did was wrong.

"He has taken full responsibility for the offence," Mr O'Neill said. "He realises the impact it could have had, not only on himself, but on others using the road."

In addition to a three-year driving ban, Sheriff David Sutherland handed Mackenzie a fine of £750 – but that fine was converted to 28 days imprisonment.
