And the annual event by St Giles Centre is set to be bigger than ever.

The Northern Scot, Tesco in Elgin and Elgin Business Improvement District (BID) have joined forces with the shopping centre.

The four partners are inviting donations of chocolate Easter eggs

The final deadline for donations is Wednesday, April 8.

In conjunction with Moray Council, the eggs will be distributed to kids in need across Moray.

Easter treats are also likely to be winging their way to care homes and other organisations across the area.

Steve Young, manager of St Giles Centre, said: “Eggs are distributed to local organisations throughout Moray, including children’s charities, hospitals, hostels and care homes.

"Following on from the success of the joint Christmas appeal with The Northern Scot, we hope readers and our customers will be equally as generous.

"It is an opportunity to put a smile on the face of someone this Easter who is in need of a boost."

Joe Millican, joint content editor of The Northern Scot, said: "We are delighted to welcome Tesco Elgin and Elgin BID on board with the Easter appeal."

There are collection points in the St Giles Centre, Tesco Elgin, The Northern Scot office on South Street and at Elgin BID in Harrow Inn Close.
