The fund is there to help people facing a financial crisis as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was jointly established by the Lord Lieutenant of Moray, Major General Seymour Monro and his counterpart for Banffshire, Andrew Simpson.

And cash help is being distributed within around 36 hours of requests for help coming in.

Mr Monro said: "That is an amazing amount of money to have raised and we know there are some big donations to come."

You will find application and donation forms in the next print editions of The Northern Scot, Forres Gazette, Banffshire Advertiser (Buckie), Banffshire Herald (Keith) and Banffshire Journal (Banff).

You can also download forms at www.moray.gov.uk

Mr Monro said the fund was also working with The Moray Council to try and source some IT and computer equipment for families who said they need it to help self-school children.
