In a further policy change the Moray firm is also set to introduce zero emission electric company cars to staff.

Innes Smith, CEO at Springfield Properties, said: "It’s a move that has been received very positively among colleagues.

"It also demonstrates Springfield’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint."

The housebuilder recently installed a bank of new electric charging stations at its Elgin offices, which overlook Thornhill Road, as well as a duel charging station at its kit factory in the town.

There are also moves to instal temporary mobile charging points across its construction sites.

It's estimated that a carbon dioxide saving of 5.2tonnes per vehicle will be achieved through the transition.

Mr Smith added: "There is no denying, businesses of all sizes and across every sector still have a way to go to reach the 2045 targets, but these are the types of positive changes and initiatives that will help us get there."
