A MORAY funding body has established a fund for local charities affected by the coronavirus crisis.

The Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation has set aside £25,000, with rapid response grants of up to £500 being offered.

Foundation manager Kay Jackson said: "Like many of you, the foundation is taking precautions to protect our team during the coronavirus outbreak, including postponing our regular funding meeting – due to have taken place at the start of April.

"However, that does not mean we do not recognise the urgent need in our community during this time.

"That is why our trustees have approved a £25,000 fund for charities based in the Moray local authority area which have been adversely affected by the coronavirus.

.

"Priority will be given to those organisations who are providing direct support in the community. This is a time for our community to come together."

Trustees have streamlined the decision-making process to provide rapid responses and you can email kay@gebfoundation.com for details.

The foundation, at www.gebfoundation.com, manages the personal legacies left by Gordon and Ena Baxter, who built the Moray-based Baxters Food Group into a global brand.
