MORAY groups are today celebrating after receiving grants from the National Lottery.

Across the country, 136 community groups have picked up awards totalling £952,883 from National Lottery Awards for All – a joint awards programme from The National Lottery Community Fund, Creative Scotland and sportscotland.

Of them, three are in the Moray area including Keith's Sunshine Developmental Playgroup, which has been awarded £9500 from the Big Lottery Fund to help cover staff costs for the playgroup which provides care for children with a variety of additional support needs.

Portknockie's paddling pool will use its £3480 grant from the Big Lottery Fund for the ongoing maintenance of the tidal facility, which has undergone a major refurb thanks to community fundraising.

New equipment will be purchased by the volunteers who keep the facility running and the area around the pool will be improved with new signage, refuse buckets and a concrete BBQ area.

The final Moray project celebrating today is M:ADE (Moray Arts Development Engagement), which will use its £4730 grant from Creative Scotland to deliver seven creative projects throughout Moray, which will be developed by community groups and displayed in their urban gallery, The Portal, which is a community-owned former telephone kiosk in Alves.
