Moray man found with £500 worth of cannabis hidden under floorboards

A MORAY man who was found with £500 worth of cannabis under his floorboards has received a deferred sentence.
Caleb Gordon of Carnie Place, Buckie, pled guilty to being in possession of illegal drugs, after police entered his home and noticed a strong smell of cannabis.
Sheriff David Sutherland was told by Fiscal depute Karen Poke, that police originally attended the property for a separate matter but during a consensual search were quick to find floorboards in a hallway cupboard that were “loose and moved with ease”.
Under the floorboards were two supermarket bags, one with 10.6 grams of cannabis and another containing 46 grams. Ziplock bags and scales were also found.
Gordon fully admitted that the drugs were his.
Defence solicitor Grant Daglish told the court: “One bag was for personal use, the second bag was not his drugs, he was holding them for someone else.
“Essentially, he was a courier receiving no financial gains and was taking the drugs and money to people.”
Gordon is a first-time offender and the court heard that he is ‘pro-social’ within society and is working.
Sheriff David Sutherland handed Gordon a structured deferred sentence with a review due in August.
