A MAN with terminal cancer is determined to raise the profile of a local cancer charity after completing the Kiltwalk on Saturday.
Dennis Hurst (71), who lives in Keith, has been diagnosed with pancreatic as well as lung cancer. He has just months left to live.
CLAN Cancer Support have supported him with his condition over the past five years
And, as a thank you, Dennis has made it his mission to raise the profile of the charity with the time he has left.
That saw him complete the Kiltwalk at the weekend, walking three miles despite his condition causing him breathlessness.
Dennis said: "The walk went really well. I could only do the shorter walk because of my condition but it went really well.
"It was blaring sun and 24 degrees so I think that took a lot of people by surprise.
"I think people think I'm stupid because of my condition but it's a target, it's something to do and aim for isn't it.
"What can I do? Sit around with my feet up all day or get out there and do something like raise some money and publicity for CLAN."
Dennis was joined on the walk by a group of close friends and they're set to join him once more for a 60-mile cycle ride.
The aim, again, is to raise awareness of CLAN Cancer Support.
"I'm going to use an electric bike and cycle 60 miles," Dennis added.
"I'll be going from Huntly to Insch on August 26 and it'll be the same team from the walk.
"It's about giving something back because they've supported me for six years now so I just want to generate as much publicity as I possibly can.
"You know a lot of people don't even know there is a CLAN in Elgin. They don't have to go to Aberdeen so I want to highlight that."
