Alan Fraser from Lhanbryde took this picture of a fogbow during a visit to Findhorn on Saturday.

A fogbow is a similar phenomenon to a rainbow.

Because of the very small size of water droplets that cause fog—smaller than 0.05 millimeters – a fogbow has only very weak colours, with a red outer edge and bluish inner edge.

In many cases, when the droplets are very small the fogbows appear white, and are therefore sometimes called white rainbows.
