Richard Lochhead has launched his annual competition to design his Christmas card – with all the proceeds going to Moray Women's Aid.

Children from primary schools across Moray have been asked to submit designs with a ‘local community’ theme.

The winner will be used on the front of the cards sent by the MSP.

Money has been raised for many local charities over the years.

Most recently Moray Food Plus was presented with a cheque for £2250.

Mr Lochhead said: "I’m sure we’ll receive some fantastic designs again and, no doubt, it will be very difficult choosing a winner.

"I hope we can raise a substantial sum for Moray Women’s Aid who are a very worthy local charity, providing important support and safe accommodation to women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

"Any businesses who would like to get involved are welcome to contact my office."

The contest will close on Friday, November 17.

Elle Johnston, services manager at Moray Women’s Aid, said: "We're very pleased to be the beneficiaries of Richard Lochhead’s charity Christmas cards this year.

"Moray Women’s Aid has experienced its busiest year to date, receiving over 600 referrals for women and 125 for children in need of our services.

"The money received will let us invite more families to our Christmas get-togethers."
