A MORAY woman's headshave in memory of her daughter has raised more than £3000 for an end-of-life charity.
Linda Ogilvie, from Elgin, got her head shaved at K+M Barbers, on South Street, on October 20, in front of close family.
The headshave came at the end of a six-week-long fundraising campaign, which saw generous people around Moray donate in excess of £3000 to Marie Curie.
Linda was raising funds to benefit the charity after their work with her daughter, Laura, who passed away aged 32 after a battle with bowel cancer on July 18, 2021.
Her initial target was £300, but she smashed through that – with customers at The Red Lion in Fochabers, plus Starbucks, K+M Barbers and Maryhill Health Centre in Elgin helping raise cash.
"I've still got to get some money together, but it's going to be over £3000," Linda said. "I'm well chuffed. When I say I'm going to do something I'm determined.
"I've had my head shaved before, for Children In Need and raising money for the old people's Christmas party in Burghead.
"But it was personal this time and it meant more to me. These people helped my daughter. I'm proud that I've done it and I quite like the hairstyle!
"Thank you very much to Kate (Cutajar) for doing my hair, all the customers in Starbucks, The Red Lion and K+M who kindly donated, plus the staff at Maryhill."
Alan Marshall, the treasurer of the Moray branch of the Marie Curie, was in attendance at the headshave.
"The funds will be used to pay all the nurses," he said. "We are exceptionally grateful.
"When you think of the money Linda has raised and the involvement she has got herself in personally, it's just really makes our job as a branch all the more worthwhile.
"It's really a response to the care and attention the nurses give to people."
