Moray among most obese regions in Scotland

NEW research has found that Moray has one of the highest obesity rates in Scotland.

71 per cent of Moray adults are classified as obese or overweight according to new research.

Around 71 per cent of adult residents in the region are classified as overweight or obese.

That's according to digital health service Now Patient which conducted research into the percentage of adults classified as overweight or obese in England, Scotland and Wales.

They also looked into the number of Google searches for weight solutions from April last year to March 2023 to reveal the most weight-conscious areas of the UK.

East Ayrshire has the highest rates of obesity in Scotland with 75 per cent of adults classed as overweight or obese.

Moray ranks fourth on the list behind Dumfries and Galloway and the Orkney Islands.

Meanwhile, the city of Edinburgh has the lowest obesity rates in Scotland with 53 per cent of adults classed as overweight or obese.
