THE public will get a chance to have a closer look at the plans for a £6 million Moray Life Sciences Centre.

A public display of the proposal will take place this Monday, November 7 from 3-8pm.

The event will take place at Moray College UHI where the new state-of-the-art centre will be based.

A planning application has been submitted for the three storey development which is a collaboration between the college and NHS Grampian, and also funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

As well as the plans being on display, an interactive "walk through" the project will also be running in the Moray School of Art gallery at the college, which is the former Academy building opposite the main reception.

Bill Duncan, former assistant principal who has spearheaded the project, said: "The architects and myself will be on hand during those hours to answer any questions or queries the visitors may have."

Work is expected to start in the spring next year and will take up to 18 months to complete.

"We really do want to share our vision with neighbours and those interested in this exciting project," said Mr Duncan.

The recent decision by health diagnostics firm AccuNostics to locate to the Forres Enterprise Park, with the creation of 30 jobs, was partly down to the fact that Moray has signalled its commitment to life sciences through the £6 million project.
