The £250,000 fund, which is focused on tackling climate change, will support activities including skills workshops, exhibitions, and youth development programmes.

Richard Lochhead is urging Moray groups and organisations to apply for funding to help raise awareness and encourage climate action locally.

He said: “We’re already seeing the impacts of a changing climate here in Moray and right across the globe.

“If Scotland is to meet our ambitious target of reaching net zero by 2045, it’s vital that people understand the nature and scale of the climate emergency, the actions that can be taken to help, and how communities can be supported to play their part.

“A number of community groups and organisations in Moray already doing great work.

“I’d encourage local groups to consider whether they might have a project that could benefit from the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund and would urge them to apply if so.”

Applications for the Climate Engagement Fund will close on 7 May 2024.
