Moray's first ever coffee festival will kick off next month with 16 businesses so far uniting to co-host he week-long event.

Moray Coffee Week will take place from May 19 until May 26 with 16 different businesses uniting to co-host the week-long festival.

Each location will offer a selection of events and outdoor adventures; from Forres, up to the trails of Glenlivet, to Cullen Bay.

The festival has been designed by Spotlight On Moray in collaboration with Visit Moray Speyside to 'blend the enjoyment of a cup of coffee' with adventuring across Moray's world-class, hiking and biking trails.

And the region-wide festival will also host various community events and a research project to establish how used coffee grounds can be recycled.

Festival organisers add that the festival aims to celebrate the people who persevered through lockdown, or had the ambition to start a coffee business shortly afterwards resulting in the region's coffee shop boom.

Gemma Cruickshank, Visit Moray Speyside Chief Executive Officer, said: "Visit Moray Speyside is delighted to support Spotlight On Moray with the innovative and exciting Moray Coffee Week.

"We welcome this new initiative which highlights the fantastic range of coffee houses and short walks throughout Moray Speyside. This will not only encourage people to enjoy the outdoors but will also enhance the appeal of the area as a visitor destination.”

Moray Coffee Week has been made completely free for local coffee businesses to take part in. This is to support them while the financial climate continues to pose its challenges.

Jodi Turner, The Patch Speyside, said: "We are delighted to be a part of this great initiative, showcasing the wonderful businesses offering quality produce in Moray Speyside.

"With operating for less than a year, we have been overwhelmed with the support from both locals, regulars and other like-minded businesses.”

Claire Doughty, The Café at Logie Steading, added: "A good cup of coffee, served to perfection and enjoyed in a great location, either on your own or shared over cake with friends is a great pick me up.

"The café, located at Logie Steading offers the perfect location to enjoy a coffee after an energetic walk or cycle, a quiet stroll, or with a book bought from the independent bookshop across the courtyard.”
