MORAY Speyside is set to be put on show at an international tourism event in Germany.

Visit Moray Speyside is part of the VisitScotland and VisitBritain delegation at world-leading travel trade show ITB Berlin this week.

The major international tourism gathering – hosted in the German capital from March 7 to March 9 – is set to attract members of the travel industry from more than 180 countries.

The event is making its post-pandemic return this year, being staged for the first time since 2019.

Gemma Cruickshank, chief executive of Visit Moray Speyside, said: “This will be Visit Moray Speyside’s first year attending ITB Berlin face-to-face.

"We really hope this will help us showcase the great travel trade ready products we have in the region.

"We also hope to engage with as many operators as possible from around the world to build relationships and encourage them to consider Moray Speyside as a destination offering to their clients.

"ITB Berlin will be the chance for us to further put Moray Speyside on the map again after a challenging three years.”

March is Scottish Tourism Month and travel trade events are a vital way to attract international visitors to Scotland who typically stay longer and spend more than domestic visitors.

More than half of international consumers use a travel intermediary like a tour operator or travel agent to plan and book their holidays.

VisitScotland’s head of intermediary marketing, Denise Hill, said: “Working with tour operators and other travel intermediaries is an important way of influencing how Scotland is promoted and sold across the globe.

"With over 50 per cent of international visitors using an intermediary to book part or all of their trip to Scotland, tour operators and agents play a critical role in helping to shape the Scotland that is presented and available to book by visitors across our key markets.

"Participating at ITB Berlin and similar events, we work to build strong relationships with these operators, encouraging the development of Scotland holidays which meet the needs of the evolving consumer and spread the benefit of tourism throughout Scotland and across the year.

"The businesses joining us are helping to showcase the best of Scotland and we are supporting them to reach new visitor audiences in new markets.”
