Moray taxi fares to rise by 10%

Taxi fares will increase by 10% in Moray next month.
At the moment the most that can be charged for a standard five-mile taxi journey is £15.60.
That amount increases to £16.60 for a late-night booking, £17.30 on bank holidays and £29.85 over the festive period.
The new rates will come into force on December 10 and will see the maximum charges rise to £17.16, £18.26, £19.03 and £32.84 respectively.
In addition, the charge for being sick in a cab will increase from £120 to £200.
Moray Council's licensing committee unanimously agreed the new rates today following a consultation with drivers and operators.
Donald Gatt (Keith and Cullen, Conservaive) said: "I want to express disappointment there were only six responses."
Juli Harris (Speyside/Glenlivet, SNP) agreed with these sentiments and seconded cllr Gatt's motion to approve the increase.
The council is obliged to review taxi charging every 18 months with the last increase coming in four years ago.
