IDENTICAL twin GPs in Moray have doubled up to create a YouTube video guide on the NHS virtual appointments service.

Dr Peter Kelly, from the Varis Medical Practice in Forres, and Dr Derek Kelly, from Linkwood Medical in Elgin, demonstrate in their video how doctors throughout Moray are using the NHS video call service, Attend Anywhere, to virtually see patients.

The service has been rolled out in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The technology enables patients and doctors to connect without either having to leave their homes.

Dr Derek Kelly plays the role of patient, going through the steps to connect with his doctor brother face-to-face via computer screens for an Attend Anywhere appointment.

The video to raise awareness and reassurance about remote consultations has been widely praised by patients and health professionals, including Dr Lewis Walker, from Ardach Health Centre in Buckie, clinical lead at Health and Social Care Moray (HSCM).

Dr Walker said: "In the current coronavirus situation GP practices have had to rapidly switch to providing remote consultations using Attend Anywhere video consulting to maintain reduced exposure to the virus and preserve safety whilst still providing general medical services to the population.

"Drs Derek and Peter Kelly have put together a really great educational video on how to safely and easily use Attend Anywhere that explains everything in very user-friendly terms. This is something I will be highly recommending to anyone who needs to 'see' their GP."

HSCM chief officer Pam Dudek tweeted: "What a brilliant, straightforward explanation and demonstration. Very well done."

The video has been uploaded to the doctors' new YouTube channel, Moray Doctors Community Outreach, and has been viewed nearly 4000 times in less than a week. See the video here.
