ELGIN Strathspey and Reel Society is preparing to return to the Town Hall stage for the 46th annual Fiddlers' Rally.

Members will be joined by over 100 fiddlers from across Scotland to play a variety of Scottish music, including Strathspeys, Slow Airs, Jig and Reels.

Guest artists Leonard Brown, on accordion, and Malcolm Ross, on drums, will join the musicians as they present a packed programme on September 21.

Leonard is a multi-instrumentalist who won the All Scotland Accordion Championship title in 2012 and has also been crowned Guest Artiste of the Year by the National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs.

The society is also delighted to be welcoming Malcolm, who started playing the drums at the age of 6 and has gone on to forge an impressive career.

Having recorded over 1000 albums, he enjoys playing an eclectic range of genres including Scottish, Jazz and Latin American.

The Rally will be the first for the society's new musical director Angus Hull, who has taken over the role from Ena Brian.

Originally from Lanarkshire, Angus started playing the electric organ at the age of 6 and went on to compete in several of Scotland’s Young Organist of the Year competitions.

He also plays trombone and during his career in the RAF Angus was posted to RAF Kinloss, where he met his wife at a local band.

His passion for music was turned into a career on his retirement from the air force after 24 years.

Angus became involved with several singing groups in the area in his capacity as a piano and keyboard accompanist and he has directed choirs and singers of all abilities and ages.

He is currently musical director for Elgin Amateur Dramatic Society and has been the organist at St Leonard’s Church in Forres since early 2011.

He now works as a music tutor and musician in Lossiemouth, where he lives with his wife and family.

Compere for the night is Gary Coull, who has held the microphone at rallies, festivals and both ballad events across the north east.

Tickets are now on sale at Elgin Library, via Elgin Town Hall's website, or from players.
