Wildlife in Moray: Name this bird

David Slater, who took this photo, said "The Redwing is a small thrush that visits the UK in the Winter from Northern Scandinavia and Iceland.

.

"At this time of year it can be seen in flocks feeding on playing fields, gardens, orchards or any expanse of grass.

"It is also partial to the berries of Rowan Tree and Cotoneasters.

"On calm evenings you may hear their thin “tseep tseep” call as they fly overhead.

"It get its name from the rufous red underwing, that may show as a red patch on the bird's flanks."
