WEST End leading man and Emmerdale star Ben Freeman is to take on the iconic role of The Fonz in the stage version of Happy Days, which comes to His Majesty's Theatre for a five-day run in Aberdeen next spring.

And he'll be starring alongside former Bucks Fizz singer and television presenter Cheryl Baker, who plays Mrs Cunningham, and Heidi Range as Pinky Tuscadero.

Directed and choreographed by Olivier Award nominee Andrew Wright, the musical opens in Bromley in January before going on a national tour which stops off in Aberdeen from Monday, May 5, to Saturday, May 10.

Currently playing Fiyero in Wicked at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, Freeman's other West End credits include Warner in Legally Blonde, and Norman in Dreamboats and Petticoats, but he is probably best known to TV audiences as Scott Windsor in Emmerdale.

As a member of Bucks Fizz, Cheryl won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, and has subsequently had more than 20 hit records, including three No1s.

She made her theatrical debut in the musical Footloose, starring in both the inaugural tour and in the West End, and her other musicals include Beauty and the Beast and Menopause the Musical.

A TV regular, Cheryl took part in last year's Celebrity Masterchef and she came in as a runner-up on Pop Star To Opera Star in 2011.

Happy Days is written by Garry Marshall, the legendary creator of the popular TV series and director of hit films including Pretty Woman, Beaches and The Princess Diaries.

It includes 21 original songs by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe award-winning Hall of Fame songwriter Paul Williams, while Henry Winkler, the original Fonz from the television series, is a creative consultant on the project.

Tickets for Happy Days at His Majesty's Theatre are available online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty's Theatre.
