Inverness Film Fans add sunshine to 2014

This January and February, Inverness Film Fans plan to brighten up the Highland with their midwinter sun season. Featuring Merchant Ivory's much loved period comedy/drama A Room With A View, the series also includes René Clément's thriller Plein Soleil and the enchanting romantic comedy Love In The Afternoon, starring Audrey Hepburn.
All screenings are held every second Tuesday at Eden Court Cinema and are followed by a chance to talk about the film afterwards.
A Room With A View
Be transported to sun-drenched Florence by one of Merchant Ivorys’ best loved films! A young Englishwoman’s Grand Tour of Europe is transformed into a journey of self-discovery in this warm and totally captivating romantic comedy/drama. An all-star cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Daniel Day Lewis, Maggie Smith, and Judi Dench bring the charm and passion of EM Forster’s novel vividly to life. Plein Soleil
When Tom Ripley(Alain Delon)is sent to Europeon a paid errand to bring spoilt socialite Philippe Greanleaf (Maurice Ronet)home to his family in America, he becomes absorbed in Philippe’s playboy lifestyle and is determined to make it his own. Adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Talented Mr Ripley, René Clément’s stylish and suspenseful thriller is engrossing from first frame to last. Set against a gloriously sunny backdrop Plein Soleil is a gripping story of murder and deceit with a chillingly charismatic performance by Alain Delon in the lead role. Tipping its hat to the films of Alfred Hitchcock, Clément delivers a powerful and atmospheric crime drama.
