50 years after the Fab Four made their famous non-playing visit to Strathpeffer, the Pavilion is at last set to rock to the music of the Beatles with live concert show The Magic of The Beatles on Wednesday 2nd October.

In January 1963, just before the release of their breakthrough second single Please Please Me, the Beatles abandoned a performance to an audience of 19 in Dingwall Town Hall and moved on to Strathpeffer to check out the competition at the Pavilion, where The Chessmen and popular local band The Melotones were entertaining an audience of over 1000.

"The Beatles’ connection with the Pavilion has entered into local legend, with many people still believing that they did play here," Pavilion manager Andrea Muir said.

"So we’ve been looking for a show that would do justice both to The Beatles and to local people’s nostalgia for the Pavilion’s dance hall days.

"We believe we’ve found that in the exciting Magic of The Beatles from EasyTheatres, who were also responsible for our popular and successful Evening of Burlesque."

The show recreates the Beatles’ legendary live performances, from their mop top beginnings to the psychedelia of Sgt Pepper and beyond.

"This should truly be an unmissable show, packed with hits and history from start to finish," Muir added.

"We’re sure it will be a great night. And of course we’ve already sold more tickets for this than the Beatles sold in Dingwall in 1963!"

Producer Michael Taylor believes the two hour show with its costume changes and cast of talented musicians authentically recreates the live concert shows of The Fab Four.

"The Magic of the Beatles is the band’s greatest, best-loved hits performed live — from Love Me Do to Let it Be," he said.

"It’s the most authentic Beatles show to take to the road, even down to original guitars and amps used by the band."

The cast have performed for David and Victoria Beckham, Sir Richard Branson, Madonna and Guy Ritchie, Tiger Woods, Wayne Rooney, Gordon Ramsey among many others and have appeared alongside such acts as The Merseybeats, The Searchers, The Hollies, The Bay City Rollers, Madness, Boy George, Kula Shaker, Blue, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and Girls Aloud.

• The Magic of The Beatles can be seen at Strathpeffer Pavilion at 8pm on Wednesday Tickets, priced £18.50, are available online from WeGotTickets and TicketWeb, by phone from 24-hour hotline 08444 771000, June’s Card Shop in Dingwall and the Pavilion front box office or by ringing 01997 420124.
