NC500 cycle record challenger left Inverness at midnight and has now raced past Kylesku

A cyclist is today attempting to break the record for the fastest time on a bike round the NC500 tourist route.

Robbie Mitchell set out at midnight from Inverness – and supporters reported just minutes ago that he has gone through Kyleku.

The 40-year-old is using the challenge to raise funds for the Edinburgh Sutherland Association which supports good causes across the county.

The veteran cyclist, who hails from Durness, is attempting to beat the current record of 31 hours, 19 minutes and eight seconds set by Josh Quigley.
