THE owners of the Captain's Table in Findhorn have moved to take on the running of the Crown and Anchor after the hotel's owners retired.
The Crown and Anchor, the village's only hotel, has been at the heart of Findhorn since 1739 – with Mandy and Findlay McNaughton having been owners for the last 15 years.
New landlords, the Paterson family, are well-known in Findhorn for running The Captain's Table and Parlour, Findhorn Marina and North 58 Sea Adventures.
They will be taking over the running of The Crown and Anchor in mid-November, retaining existing members of staff.
Katrina, Simon and Jamie Paterson are delighted to be given the opportunity.
Simon said: “None of this would be possible without our fabulous team down at the Captain’s Table.
"This truly is a team effort and using their enthusiasm and skills will ensure we build on the hotel’s great reputation and menu.
"That being said, we are very keen to keep all the existing staff and will be recruiting more as we move forward."
Katrina added: “Mandy and Fin have been very supportive and helpful and I am sure the transition will be smooth.
"With their ongoing support there should be very limited disruption as there will be no sudden changes to the hotel.
"We are looking forward to welcoming Mandy and Fin back on the other side of the bar."
The Patersons and McNaughtons have known each other for decades having been each other’s "customers, competitors and friends".
Fin first spoke with Katrina and Simon about taking over the pub 12 months ago in a chance encounter when abroad.
He added: “Having spent 15 years building the menu and reputation, it’s great that people who know the place inside out are taking it on.
"We wish them every success.”
