NHS Grampian will soon take over control of rapid response out of hours nursing care in Moray and Aberdeenshire.

At the moment the service is run by Marie Curie, but the charity has given notice it will not be renewing its contract after it comes to an end on September 30.

Recruitment difficulties left Marie Curie unable to fulfil staffing requirements.

That has resulted in the GMED service having to provide nursing care to patients overnight.

It has also meant that GPs and advanced nurse practitioners have had to step in, taking them away from patients with more complex and urgent issues.

Moray Integration Joint Board was warned at a meeting on Thursday that taking the service in-house will have financial implications.
