North of Scotland firm beats other national finalists for coveted award

A financial planning firm based in the North of Scotland, won independent financial adviser firm of the year for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Watson Wood Financial Planning scooped the coveted award at the national awards ceremony in London.
The winner was decided by an independent panel of judges who assessed the firm’s core values and processes, using strict scoring criteria.
The shortlist included larger firms based in the central belt.
Watson Wood Financial Planning director, Kevin Wood said: “We are incredibly proud for Watson Wood Financial Planning to be named the Scotland and Northern Ireland IFA firm of the year in the Citywire Money Marketing Awards.
“It’s a real testimony to the hard work put in from all our team at Watson Wood.
“It’s a pleasant surprise to have won given the high calibre of the other applicants.”
Fellow director, Kirsty Watson added: “We believe our award was in part due to our focus on developing our staff. We encourage and support them to achieve the highest academic and professional qualifications they can, so they can continue to deliver positive client outcomes.”
Watson Wood is one of only a small number of firms in the UK who hold both Chartered and Accredited Firm status through their professional bodies, the Chartered Insurance Institute(CII) & Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment(CISI).
The firm was set up in 2017 by directors Kevin Wood, Allan Sillars and Kirsty Watson and who now employ 16 staff.
To accommodate this growth and enable further expansion, they recently moved to larger offices in Inverness and Elgin.
