NO new coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Moray for the third straight week.

There were also no deaths confirmed across the whole Grampian region, with 17 confirmed Scotland-wide.

However, one new case of the virus was confirmed in Moray this week after none last week. The total number of cases confirmed in the area since the outbreak began is 87, with 20 deaths.

Today's update from the National Records of Scotland showed no Moray resident died due to coronavirus between June 29 and July 5. The new case was confirmed in the last seven days.

Grampian-wide, 258 people have died. Of those, 122 were in Aberdeen City, 116 in Aberdeenshire and 20 in Moray.

Six new cases of the virus have been confirmed across the Grampian region, taking the total to 1427. A total of 34 people are in hospital, with fewer than five in intensive care.

Scotland-wide, 4173 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded since the outbreak began, according to NRS figures. That includes all deaths where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate, even if the person hadn't tested positive for covid-19.

The 17 deaths recorded across the country between June 29 and July 5 represents the tenth straight weekly reduction of deaths involving coronavirus.

The Scottish Government's daily update showed 2490 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for coronavirus. That is a rise of four deaths from last Wednesday.

In total, 267,598 people in Scotland have been tested through NHS labs and regional testing centres, with 245,341 negative tests and 18,309 positive. A total of 4106 have been discharged from hospital after testing positive.
