One coronavirus death confirmed in Moray
ONE coronavirus-related death has been recorded in Moray in the last week, taking the area's death toll since the outbreak began to 65.
The person that died had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.
Of the 65 people that have died due to coronavirus in Moray, 50 tested positive for virus before dying, while 15 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.
Meanwhile, Public Health Scotland statistics show that 395 people in Moray have tested positive for the virus on PCR tests in the last week. Across the same time frame, 181 negative PCR tests were returned.
Since January 6, 2005 people in the area have tested positive on a PCR test, 1950 have tested positive on an LFD test and 613 have been positive on both.
Moray neighbourhood update
All of Moray's 24 neighbourhood areas confirmed at least seven positive PCR tests between January 23 and January 29.
Elgin was the worst-hit town in Moray with a total of 100 positive PCR tests – compared to 101 last week.
Meanwhile, there 45 positive PCR tests in Forres, 30 in Lossiemouth, 26 in Buckie and 16 in Keith and Fife Keith.

- Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 11
- Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: Eight
Moray vaccination update
The number of people aged 12 plus in Moray to have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 73,205. This accounts for 87 per cent of the eligible population.
The number to have received one dose is 77,817 – or 92.5 per cent of those eligible.
In total, 59,522 people aged 12 plus have received a booster/third jab, accounting for 70.8 per cent of the population.
