Opening of Elgin coronavirus test centre welcomed by Moray MSP Richard Lochhead

THE opening of a coronavirus drive through test centre in Elgin has been welcomed by Moray MSP Richard Lochhead.

He said: “It’s great to see the testing centre open at Lossie Green, which is being run by the army, to test key workers locally. This facility, which has a capacity of 300 tests a day, is a welcome step forward in terms increasing capacity locally.

“I know that people have already been into the centre for their drive through testing and no doubt it will be of huge benefit to workers and our essential services to have access to these tests over the coming days.

“We know that Moray has had cases of coronavirus and has sadly had deaths caused by the virus, so it is hugely important that key workers have access to tests.

"The council deserves credit for its role in getting the site set up quickly and I hope the new testing facility can be used to capacity so that as many people can benefit as possible.”
