Orrin was opened last November by head chef Andy Fyfe and business partner Elaine Sutherland.

Andy learned his trade in Glasgow, mentored by the late Alan Gibb, former executive chef at Gleaneagles Hotel.

Orrin, on South Street, has established a loyal customer base in the last five months.

Andy said: "It has been going really well and we have had a lot of local support.

"Our first customer was somebody celebrating their 91st birthday. We have had people of all ages."

Open from Thursday to Sunday at lunchtime and in the evenings, Orrin, located in the building formerly occupied by Beaver Travel, has quickly established itself.

Elaine, who owns the Oakwood Cookery School and Riverside Kitchens, explained the motivation behind the event on Thursday.

"We have been watching the situation in Ukraine on the television and wanted to do something to help."

There are a few tables left for Thursday and people can book online at https://www.orrinrestaurant.com/

All the profits will go to charities supporting people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
