A FUNDRAISER set up to help the family of a Stagecoach driver who died after an assault at Elgin Bus Station has surpassed £14,000 just hours after going live.

Keith Rollinson (58) was assaulted at the bus station on Friday evening before being taken to Dr Gray's for treatment. He later died at the hospital.

A 15-year-old male was arrested in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today (February 5).

Keith's Stagecoach colleagues have set up an online fundraiser to support his heartbroken family with funeral costs and anything else they may need.

Stagecoach driver Kirsty Robson set up the page on behalf of fellow colleagues.

Writing on the page, she said:"Keith has only been with us for a little under two years but boy did he make an impression on us all.

"He was a private, gentle and caring man with a wicked sense of humour.

"We are all truly shocked and saddened that this could happen."

Stagecoach drivers paid tribute to their colleague on Sunday by laying flowers and holding a minute's silence at the station.

And hundreds of people have already offered both donations and their condolences within hours of the online fundraiser going live.

Amanda Lindsay said: "No one should go to work and not come home again.

"Heartbroken for his family, his workmates and this community."

Maureen McHardy, whose son worked with Keith, said: "No one should fear going to work.

"My heart goes out to his family, friends and workmates."

Matthew Cameron, a former colleague of Keith's, said: "Rollo was good to me when I first started out over 25 years ago.

"He deserved better than this."

Louise Crocker, a Stagecoach driver in London, added: "Sending my sincere condolences to Keith's family, friends and work colleagues.

"Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time. Rest in peace Keith."
