AN Elgin eatery has been named as the Highlands' best Asian restaurant at an annual awards ceremony.

Panache was announced as the winner of the award at the Scottish Asian Restaurant Awards on Monday, September 20, in Edinburgh.

More than 50 Asian restaurants were nominated online by the public and shortlisted for awards, with around 25 awards handed out.

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation, the awards aim to unite the Asian restaurant industry in recognising exceptional food.

After announcing the winners, Asian Catering Federation chairman Yawar Khan said: “I would like to thank all our sponsors, supporters and members who have made these awards possible.

"The Scottish Asian Restaurant Awards are a key event for our industry.

"Not only do they celebrate the excellence of Asian and Oriental restaurants in Scotland, but they also recognise the significant contribution our industry makes to the economy and the hardworking people in our food industry."
