Panache of Elgin was named the best in Moray at the awards in Edinburgh last week at the Sheraton Grand.

The South Street restaurant specialises in Eastern Indian and Bengali cuisine.

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation, the awards were sponsored by Just Eat.

Panache owner Mamun Hussain, family, staff and one of the restaurant's loyal customers attended the celebration in Edinburgh.

Mr Hussain said the award, one of many won by the restaurant in the last four years, was a reward for the hard work of staff as the business emerges from the shadow of the Covid pandemic.

The capital's Prahna Indian Grill was named as Scotland’s Best Asian restaurant.

Over 60 establishments were in the running for an award with the shortlist determined by over 10,000 votes from members of the public. The shortlisted establishments were all visited by a panel of judges.

And all the winners will be included in the ACF’s 'One Hundred Top Curry Restaurants’ guide.

ACF chairman Yawar Khan said the winnrs were "among the very best dining establishments across Scotland and are all great ambassadors for the Asian food sector".

Asian restaurants contribute £5 billion to the economy and employ more than 100,000 people across the UK.
