Moray's Conservative MP Douglas Ross congratulated the group on the award and submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament to praise them for their "terrific achievement".

Mr Ross' motion thanked all volunteers involved with Forres In Bloom for their tireless efforts in ensuring floral displays were fitted in Grant Park and throughout the town.

It also praised the work of local schools and Forres residents whose efforts helped contribute to the award.

Forres won best in the medium town category at the Beautiful Scotland Awards, as well as maintaining its gold medal status.

Mr Ross said: “I was delighted to submit this motion to congratulate all the volunteers involved with Forres in Bloom.

"This is a terrific achievement and testament to their tireless work to make our town look beautiful.

“They have enjoyed success over many years and, given the extra emphasis surrounding environmental improvement in this year's awards, it’s great to see their efforts continually praised and rewarded by the judges.

“Thanks to Forres in Bloom and all those who have supported them throughout the town, Forres is now known as a must-visit community throughout Scotland.

“I know the volunteers will continue their great work and I cannot wait to see their future floral displays.

"I would also like to wish the group the very best of luck in getting the opportunity to hopefully represent Scotland in the UK-wide Britain in Bloom finals next year.”
