Part of Elgin's South Street closes temporarily to traffic

Part of South Street in Elgin has closed today to traffic will remain shut for the next 10 days.

SSE are scheduled to be working on the stretch between McCalls kilt shop and the Orrin restaurant until Wednesday, March 27.

Vehicles will be redirected up Culbard Street in the meantime.

Meanwhile, work has also begun on South Street to redevelop the Junners toy shop building which has lain empty for a decade.

Proposals have been lodged on behalf of Robertson Property Limited to build an enterprise hub which will offer space for new and growing businesses.

As part of the Moray Growth Deal there are also plans to build three retail units, 38 flats and a courtyard, all within the area that leads down to Elgin High Street.
