THE CannonBawz Run made its return to a sun-soaked Elgin on Saturday, raising thousands for charity in the process.

More than 40 cars set off from Elgin to travel along the North Coast 500 before finishing in Inverness.

The rally was started by Kris O’Neill to raise awareness and money for the Marfan Trust - the condition his late brother Liam had before he passed away last year.

This year’s rally, the eighth to be held, has already raised £4750 with the final total to be split evenly between the Marfan Trust, Race Against Dementia and Rock2Recovery.

“I’m estimating that we will have about £5500 once we have our final total,” Kris said.

“It was absolutely brilliant. We had a massive crowd and a great mix of people.

“The auction we had in Ullapool was great as well. We actually ran out of items to sell to the point where we actually sold an old dust pan and brush for £15.

“It was just great. It was how Liam would have wanted to be remembered. He wouldn’t have wanted it to be sombre so it was great to see everyone having fun on the day. We’ll keep his memory alive."
