HUNDREDS of people from across Moray turned out for another fun filled Dallas Gala at the weekend.

The event, which returned for the first time last year after being sidelined since 2019, attracted over 400 people for this year's event.

And, despite weather forecasts predicting rain, Dallas remained dry enough to ensure yet another Gala was a hit with locals.

Lorna McGee, one of the event's organisers, was delighted to build on the success of last year's event with a significant amount of money raised for local fundraisers.

"Everyone had a great time and we were so lucky with the weather," Lorna said.

"We got great numbers last year but we think that might have been a little bit of an anomaly because it was just after the pandemic but we were only around a hundred people down on last year.

"If you compare the numbers with before the pandemic we're actually getting double what we were getting then so we're really chuffed."

The event kicked off on Friday with Anna Park being crowned Gala Queen. That was followed by a bike race featuring 26 participants.

Saturday featured a wheelbarrow race followed by It's a Knockout and a duck race. In the evening, a talent show saw five participants dance and sing with one performing a drag act.

James Kennedy and Rhionna McCallum capped the day with an evening of entertainment.

Sunday is regarded as the 'Main Event' of the Dallas Gala and this year was no different.

Starrywell alpacas, animals from Thorablla Farm, the Moray Flying Circus, Moray and District Dancers, Strathisla Pipe Band and the Highland Classic Motorcycle Club all featured on a jam-packed Sunday.

There was even a performance from the 'Dallas Cowboys' who performed 'Flop Gun' - a unique take on the hit 1980s Tom Cruise film Top Gun.

The usual tea tent, grand prize draw raffle and an assortment of stalls including the largest bottle stall in the history of the Gala also featured prominently to round off another successful event.
