The games built on the success of last year's event which was the first to be held since 2019 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

A variety of activities featured on the day including light and heavy athletic events, events for children, the traditional tug o' war and the Ben Rinnes Five Tops Hill Race which saw competitors run 14 miles across arduous terrain.

Alex Grant, Dufftown Highland Games Chieftain, said: "We've been very fortunate over the last few years. We're delighted with the crowds that are coming here. We get a huge amount of visitors that come here to Dufftown so it's great to see that again.

"We've got volunteers on the committee obviously but we had 26 people the day before giving us a hand to set up for the games.

"Without them and the committee there wouldn't be a Dufftown Highland Games. People don't realise how much time it takes you know. It's four days of work for four hours really.

"It's great to see and the weather really makes the difference.

"When you consider Dufftown has a population of about 1500/1700 people and you get so many coming out for the games, it's just fantastic. .

"It's great for local businesses as well. We're a registered charity so any money we can make we want to give it back to the local community and we try and spread it around the community as well."
