AFTER three years away, more than 125 people celebrated the successful return of Elgin Burns Club's annual supper.
The club hadn't held its Burns Supper since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but returned in style at the Mansefield Hotel on Wednesday.
John Trodden addressed the haggis, Lawrence Fraser did the toast – to which HM Forces Wing Commander Richard Leaks replied – and the Immortal Memory speech was delivered by Ross McLelland of Paisley Burns Club.
Six pupils from Hopeman Primary School put on a shadow puppet show before the traditional dinner of haggis, neeps and tatties.
Donald Lunan stood down as president on the night, to be replaced by Alistair Campbell who was promoted from his role as vice-president. Neil Urquhart became vice-president.
Mr Campbell said: "It was a really excellent evening with a good attendance of more than 125 people.
"The Hopeman Primary School pupils were excellent and put on a shadow puppet show, which was performed well and clearly.
"It's now very much an annual part of the supper to start with pupils from a local school performing.
"The meal itself was enjoyed by everybody and the general atmosphere was great. People are delighted to be back meeting and to see annual events restored."
One of the highlights on the night, Mr Campbell added, was the Tam O' Shanter delivered by Sandy Duncan.
He added: "There were a good number of new guests who hadn't been before and the feedback was very positive.
"It's great to get new members in and people are already signing up for next year. We are chuffed."
