Rotary Elgin is thanking everyone who helped make Saturday night's firework display in Cooper Park such a glowing success.

The group organises as well as pays for the town's annual bonfire, with others also contributing.

Neil Urquhart from Rotary Elgin said: "It was a bit of a misty evening – but that just added to the atmosphere. Most importantly, though, it stayed dry, which made all the difference.

"There were more than 80 people helping out on the night in different ways, such as stewarding.

"Also, we had support in kind from 20 different organisations, such as the police and the fire service, while Elgin BID lent us radios.

"Then, of course, there's the public who donated generously on the night."

The bonfire was lit at 6.30pm, followed half an hour later by the start of the firework display.
