Undeterred by the less-than-ideal weather, the arena was filled with wagging tails as well as some more unusual pets.

The show was judged by Louise Kellas from Walkies Moray, who had a hard time picking a favourite.

“It was really difficult because lots of customers were here and there were so many lovely dogs," she said

However, she ultimately decided that the winners were Kirstin Leckie with Tibo (small dog), Catriona Dingwall with Logan (medium dog) and Hannah Morrison with Yogie (large dog).

The unusual pet was awarded to Ziggy – a Shetland Pony – shown by Blae Gillies.

Hannah with Yogie, from Elgin, was delighted with his win. She said: “I’m chuffed! I bought him a bow tie especially for it."

Yogie was described by Hannah as being “overwhelmed” by his win.

Amongst the more unusual pets were Pickles and Cookie the guinea pigs, who were being taken around in a pram.

Pickles and Cookie belong to Ariana and Gabriella Thomson’s cousin, who was ill. Luckily, the girls stepped in to make sure the guinea pigs made it to the show.

They said that their cousin will be "delighted" with Pickles and Cookie winning.

Convener of the Hopeman Gala, Jennifer Middlecote, said: “I don’t know how our judge managed to choose, there were so many gorgeous pooches running around that ring."
