KEITH Primary School pupils joined kids across Moray in celebrating World Book Day yesterday.

On Monday, pupils were encouraged to bring in a book that was no longer needed. That saw the school set up a book exchange to allow pupils to select a book to keep, read and share.

And, for the main event on Thursday, pupils dressed up as their favourite characters and brought in their favourite books to read during a dedicated half hour reading break on the day.

A guess the book game was also played where pupils guessed what well-known book was being displayed on classroom doors around the school.

Samantha Simpson, Principal Teacher of Support for Learning, said: "There was a real buzz around the school on World Book Day.

"It was so lovely to see all the colour and creativity that went into the costumes, so a big thank you to the parents for supporting it.

"It was a delight to see the school so busy and lively with the talk of different books. The pupils were so delighted to take home a different book at the end of the day.

"The day inspired a lot of talk about reading, which is exactly what it was intended to do. We hope to build on this momentum and create a love of reading in our pupils."
