THE festive spirit has been in full swing at Burghead Primary School as students, parents, and the local community came together for two unforgettable school concerts.
The school's Christmas concerts, titled Lights, Camel, Action, will likely be the final ones held in Burghead's Church of Scotland which is set to close on December 31.
Praising the shows as "really good, and a lot of fun", Burghead Primary acting head teacher Martin Collins, said the final event was "quite moving" and that a future without school concerts at the church marked "the end of an era".
All year groups were involved in the concerts, held on Wednesday, December 20 and Thursday, December 21.
For this year's show, pupils put a nativity spin on Strictly Come Dancing – adopting the same format, judges and scoring.
Each class performed a dance, including cowboy-style line dancing, disco, funk and ballet, but with a festive twist.
Mr Collins said: "Parents and carers loved it. We had full houses both days and it was really nice to offer it up.
"And getting the boys and girls to march down the aisles to The Village People, Uptown Funk and The Bee Gees really put our own slant on it – which the audience loved.
"It was a really good show and, afterwards, there was a meal for elderly in the community hall and a select group of us went across on Thursday night and sung some Christmas carols and some songs from the show for them."
Along with the concerts, each Burghead Primary class had a Christmas party and the week was closed out with a festive sing-along.
Despite it having been a "hectic couple of weeks" with the celebrations, Mr Collins said, "it has been really enjoyable".
This week's events also reflected a "good and quite a busy term", with the school having hosted Prince William and Princess Kate earlier this year.
"This term has been really good, with things like the royal visit and these Christmas performances," he said.
"It was great to bring the community together and I'm really pleased to continue being a part of it."
