PUPILS have been praised for their amazing work in building replicas of Moray monuments.
Moray’s Big Build Showcase saw 10 primary schools, and more than 160 pupils, come together to celebrate their hard work over recent months.
For months, schools drew on the expertise of building industry sponsors, including Springfield, Robertson Homes, Balfour Beatty and The Training Folk, to help transform sustainable materials into models of local landmarks as part of a Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Moray programme.
In total, more than 400 pupils were involved in the scheme during 2024.
The March event, hosted at UHI Moray, saw teams from Aberlour Primary School and Dyke Primary School win top honours in their categories.
Expert judges, picked from the programme’s sponsors, were tasked with the “difficult decision” of picking the winners, a DYW spokesperson said.
Dyke pupils, from Primary 3 and Primary 4, won the Primary 1 to 4 category with their recreation of Findhorn Bay.
While the the Primary 5 to 7 category was scooped by Aberlour Primary School, for their recreation of the Craigellachie Bridge.
Also attending the event to show off their work were talented pupils from Dallas Primary, Greenwards Primary, Keith Primary School, Pilmuir Primary, St Geradines, St. Sylvesters, West End Primary and Seafield Primary.
A spokesperson for DYW Moray offered her “huge thanks” to the judges and praised the “incredible” entries this year.
“Well done to everyone who took part in this year’s challenge,” she said.
“Over 400 young people across Moray got involved this year, which is fantastic.
“Thank you to everyone who made this challenge such a success again this year.”
