FIVE sell-out crowds were thrilled by Elgin Musical Theatre's production Sunshine on Leith at the town hall.
The group left five successive crowds of 512 at Elgin Town Hall impressed with their show, which featured a soundtrack from Edinburgh-based band The Proclaimers.
The sing-a-long musical featured a funny and moving story about Davy and Ally, two soldiers from Leith.
Committee member Aidan Henderson said: "It went very, very well.
"We could have done one or two other performances, we were that sold out. We had lists of people wanting to get in and we were hearing others were pleaing for tickets.
"We were expecting it to do well but not as well as it did. We never expected to get so many comments from the public and to have a long list of people wanting to come.
"We started rehearsing back in August and we were all in two or three nights a week for almost six months. But it has absolutely paid off."
Around 50 people were in the cast for the shows, which ran from Wednesday, March 1, until Saturday, March 4.
Incredibly, the role of Rab – a father – was played by Sandy Duncan, who had never before seen the script and was only asked to fill in 15 days before the show began.
The best review of the lot, according to Aidan, was delivered by an elderly man who went as far as to create a Facebook account to deliver his positive feedback.
"We got heaps of reviews, but the best of the lot, was from a man who joined Facebook to have his say," Aidan explained.
"He said 'I didn't know what to expect, but the acting was superb. A lot of work has gone into this, the singers were brilliant and the band was phenomenal. They should all be proud.'"
Mr Henderson confirmed that Elgin Musical Theatre are discussing which show they will bring to the town hall next year.
