THOUSANDS of Buckie Thistle supporters gave their heroes a fantastic backing on the club's biggest day.

Around 2500 Jags fans – some week-in-week-out hardcore and some attending their first Jags match – were among a 40,180 crowd at Parkhead on Sunday.

While Celtic ran out convincing 5-0 victors – it was more than just 90 minutes of football for many in the away end.

Jamie Brown stays in Norwich and flew north to attend his first-ever Jags match with his son Harry. His late father, Neilson James Brown, played for Buckie many moons ago.

"This is my first time watching Buckie," he said. "It's a one-off, nostalgia. I have always known about Buckie because my dad talked about it.

"The match has really brought my dad back for me."

Stuart Plant is one of many Celtic fans from Buckie. He took his daughters Rowan and Myrhn Newlands to their first ever game at Parkhead.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime – I'm a big Celtic fan and a big Buckie fan.

"The girls have never been to Celtic Park so it's the best of both worlds – they are getting to see my team and their local team playing each other.

"This is the girls' first experience of the football so it's a great place to start off."

Andrew Docherty took his five-year-old son Peter, who plays for Buckie youths, to Parkhead for the first time.

He added: "To see Buckie at Parkhead means a lot for him – he's been bragging all week that it's his team that's playing Celtic!

"It's his first time at Parkhead and it's the perfect game for him to start up with."

The Jags were also given a big send-off from Victoria Park on Saturday before the match – with hundreds gathering to wish their favourites well.
