Slap bang in the middle of the North-East coast is the beautiful fishing town of Lossiemouth. Take a day to walk or try your hand at surfing along the rolling duned beaches right outside the main town. Then, finish the day off with some top quality fresh fish suppers, with local produce coming a stone's throw away in the North Sea.

Reader Vernon Wm Carey commented: "Lossie chip shop is the best and friendly staff and always busy when open, local fish and individual chips."

Rockfish Cafe & Chip Shop, Whitehills, Banff

Another local institution near Banff, Rockfish has a few sit-in places which is great on rainy days and plenty to choose from on the menu.

Roy Stevely said about the restaurant: "World class Fish & Chips! Good sized portions, excellent quality, great service!"

Pinefield Chipper, Elgin

Located on Pinefield Crescent in Elgin, this place is known for mouthwatering fish and was a favourite among the readers that responded to our call.

Although it might not be in the fanciest location, the chip shop makes up for it in food quality and service.
