CHARACTERS from the Harry Potter series and Diary of a Wimpy Kid were among just some of the books pupils from Aberlour Primary School took inspiration from for World Book Day last week.

Children and staff got into the spirit of things by dressing up as characters from some of their favourite books on Friday.

The school's head teacher Mandy MacLeod praised the pupils' creativity in choosing costumes.

She said: "It’s been such a delight seeing the pupils so engaged with World Book Day this year. It’s a fantastic event that celebrates the joy of reading.

"You could really see the fun and creativity the day inspired and we hope to keep creating a positive reading environment which promotes a love of reading in our pupils."

Created by UNESCO in 1995, the worldwide event is a celebration of books and reading and is marked in over 100 countries worldwide.
