The average decision-making timescale in Moray is now just 15 weeks, compared to 98 weeks a decade ago.

This figure is also well below the current national average across Scotland of 39 weeks,

The council's planning framework gained 13 out of a possible 15 green indicators from the government, reflecting targets met or exceeded.

David Gordon (Speyside/Glenlivet, Conservative), who chairs the council’s planning committee said he was "delighted" by the endorsement, particularly as a number of major planning applications have recently been determined.

He added: "I’m very much looking forward to supporting the council’s drive for continuous improvement."
